The first place I hit when entering a department store is the home section. More specifically, the dining and kitchen area.
I love kitchen gadgets and especially ones that will make my life in the kitchen easier. And an immersion blender is one of those gadgets. If you have read any of my past articles you know I like easy. Who says cooking and baking need to be hard? Not me! But what is an immersion blender and do I really need one?
What Is An Immersion Blender?
An immersion blender is also known as a hand or stick blender. It can do almost anything a full-size countertop blender can do. If you are like me with limited counter space, that full-size bulky blender is tucked away into a cupboard. Who wants to tug and pull that thing out when you can just reach into a drawer and pull out the handy dandy immersion blender? But wait, many models are able to be hung on the wall. The immersion blender is not only portable and handheld but also easy to store.

A wand-shaped handheld kitchen appliance with small blades on the end. Just press the on button and the blades whir around like a regular blender. An immersion blender is easier to clean as well. Just detach the blades.
This little but mighty gadget makes it so much easier and safer to blend and puree hot soups. No need to pour that hot mixture into a blender and risk burning yourself. Just place the immersion blender right into your pot. Always make sure that the blender is immersed in the hot soup while blending.
Worried about scratching your pot? It is safe to use with cookware that is compatible with metal utensils. However, there are many models that have plastic guards around the blades that will make them less likely to scratch your pot.
