About Tai

Hello and Welcome from My Home to Yours.

I’m Taianne, It’s different I know.  If you are wondering, it’s pronounced like Diane but with a T. But everyone calls me Tai.  You know like the tie in bowtie 🙂 and I am the owner of athomewithtai.com

Why athomewithtai

I love to write, well attempt to write that is.  And I love to cook.  Nothing fancy, I’m no Master Chef, after all, I’m just a simple farm wife.  I love to put together a good meal for my family.

I was diagnosed with Cancer 2 years ago.   Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma. A mouthful isn’t it? Also known as EHE for short.  It is a rare cancer that grows from the cells that make up the blood vessels. This cancer can occur anywhere in the body with the most common sites being the liver, lungs, and bone. Mine is in the liver. It also happens to be stable at the moment.   I had 3 small tumors in my liver ablated a little over a year ago. But I had to quit work as I tired easily.

So I needed to find something to do. With my love of cooking and writing, I thought why not combine them. I have learned a lot about cooking in my 64 years and I am still learning. I love trying new recipes and tweaking them just a little. And I thought why not share this adventure.

I come from a family of cooks. My dad was a professional cook. He worked for the airlines many years ago. He also at one time owned his own small restaurant. So my first job at the age of 15 was waitressing for my dad.

My great Aunt Emmy is actually the one who started my passion for cooking. When I was 12 I went to stay at her farmhouse in Indiana. She was the best home cook. I helped her cook and bake for a family gathering and I loved every minute of it. It was so satisfying to know that everyone enjoyed and raved about the good food we put on the table.

I get my storytelling and the gift of gab from my Grandpa. He never met a stranger meaning everyone he met he talked to like he had known them for years. He would even start to tell them our life history. It could be embarrassing at times, but that was my grandpa.

I hope that you enjoy the simple recipes and the stories about my family sprinkled in here and there.

Have A Wonderful Day!
